Ninnani has been an artist, writing and drawing for as long as memory serves. As a teenager, artistic expression became a way to navigate the world and address adversity and prejudice. Beginning artistic studies at the age of 11, enrollment in a specialized school for Comics and illustration followed at 15. Completing studies in Comics three years later in 2000, and in illustration in 2001, a diverse career in illustration and art ensued, including storyboards for the film industry and graphic novels, as well as various commercial illustrations under different pseudonyms. However, the great passion has always been children's literature.

For 20 years, research in pedagogy and childhood from a libertarian point of view has been a focal point.

“How to welcome humans who have just arrived in this world? And how to produce a world more apt to receive them?”

These questions drive the work in both writing and illustrating. The use of colors and the relationship between elements are carefully thought out to undo stereotypes about childhood, proposing a visual

non-hyper-stimulation and favoring the relationship with the narrative, the total reading experience, and possible ethical and philosophical unfoldings. Yes, philosophical!

All research on childhood is based on the assumption that the child is a complete being, already full and active—not a

proto-adult, but a creator, a thinker, a questioner, and a producer of worlds.

When not repressed, children show themselves to be masters with much to teach. For nine years, the opportunity to learn from daughter Lazu has been invaluable.

Nin Nani lives, creates, and learns part of the year with the vivacious nature in a village in the south of Bahia, Brazil, and another part in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

and that's it!

in general I like to use a reduced palette of colors.

coffee is very present!

my creation process has a deep connection with listening, with the search for what each project and art asks for in terms of atmosphere, color, composition, technique and finish.

I am fascinated by the image and its intrinsic narratives, and I really like when a job allows me to switch between traditional and digital techniques.

:)
